Surrender a Parrot

If you are experiencing a behavioral challenge with your bird (biting, screaming, attacking family, etc), please contact a Parrot Behavior Consultant/Trainer for guidance before considering rehoming your bird. Many behavior issues have simple fixes that can be remedied with the help of a behavior expert.

How long will it take for your bird to get adopted? While we try to find a new home for the parrots in our care as quickly as possible, it can often take 3 -12 months for them to be adopted (sometimes even years).

What happens if we are at capacity and cannot accept your bird at this time? We will invite you to join our surrender waitlist. While being on our waitlist does not guarantee acceptance, please know we carefully review each request. We will contact individuals in the order received as space and resources become available.

Every parrot we take in becomes our responsibility, and we take that very seriously. We want to ensure we find them the best home possible. To help us find the right fit we ask that you complete our surrender form as thoroughly as possible.

If you need to rehome your parrot, please fill out the Surrender Application below. We are a volunteer-based organization so please be patient throughout the surrender process.

Parrots in Wills/Life Planning for your Parrot(s)
Through estate planning upon your passing we suggest leaving a bequest in the name of your pet(s) to Magnolia Exotic Bird Sanctuary. If you are planning to make Magnolia Exotic Bird Sanctuary one of your beneficiaries, we encourage you to let us know. Prior notification enables us to better plan for the future of your parrot(s) and/or future projects.
